Violet Briney Obituary

OKEECHOBEE - Violet "Bea" Briney, of Okeechobee passed away July 11, 2012 in Okeechobee. She was born May 19, 1931 in Huntsville, Alabama, to Edward and Emma Mae Elders. She came to Okeechobee from Akron, Ohio in 1958. She helped her husband, Leroy Briney, with his position as the Veteran's Services Officer and in later years she was a Postal worker. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over 50 years. She was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Okeechobee. Mrs. Briney was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Walker; and her sister, Faye Mackin. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Leroy Briney; son, Steve Briney (Kathy); son-in-law, Fred Walker all of Okeechobee; three brothers, Charles Elders (Bernice) of Tennessee, Jeffery Elders (Denise) of Okeechobee and Phillip Elders (Pam) of Sebring; brother-in-law, Walter Mackin of Okeechobee; four grandchildren, Todd Briney of Okeechobee, Nikki Cleary of Okeechobee, Ben Walker (Shannon) of Gainesville and Eric Walker of Newberry; great granddaughter, Kyle Walker of Gainesville; many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. A gathering will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Buxton Funeral Home, 110 NE 5th ST, Okeechobee, FL until service at 3 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, PO Box 1548, Okeechobee, FL 34973. Friends may sign the guest book at www.BassOkeechobeeFH.com All arrangements are entrusted to the loving care of Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Crematory, 205 N.E. Second Street, (863) 763-2111.
