Deirdre Escheman Obituary

Deirdre Byrne Escheman, 77, of Challenge, CA, passed away on July 6, 2025, unexpectedly while attending church service at Challenge Community Church.

Deirdre was born September 2, 1947, in Winsted, CT, and grew up in Norfolk, CT. She lived an extraordinary life devoted to her faith, family, and dearest friends.

Her family was truly the light of her life. Deirdre's most beloved bible verse was Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me". A testament to the strong Christian woman she embodied.

Deirdre supported her husband Doug through his educational career and stood by his side in his role as pastor of Challenge Community Church up until her very last moments.

The final words of scripture Doug read to her were Romans 6:23, "The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord".

Deirdre leaves a legacy of unconditional love and selflessness. She had a contagious laugh, was always a shoulder to lean on, and made the best blackberry jam as her grandchildren would say.

Deirdre is survived by her husband, of 56 years, Doug Escheman; her children, Christy Jung (Randy), Sam Escheman (Megan), and Katie Escheman; her siblings, Maureen Larsen, Richard Byrne, Tom Byrne, John Byrne, and Ky Byrne; grandchildren, Victoria Sexauer (Danny), Madison Escheman, Meah Jung, Teagan Jung, and Kayden Sharma; and great grandchildren Emmalynn Sexauer and Jason Sexauer.

Deirdre is preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Phyllis Byrne; and brothers, Phillip Byrne and David Byrne.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lakeside Colonial Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Mt. Hope Bible Camp.

A memorial will take place at Mt. Hope Bible Camp, Forbestown, CA, on July 19, 2025, at 3 PM, with a reception to follow.

I can´t say this about a lot of people. But growing up as a young man. I cannot remember one negative word that she ever said. Deirdre always had something good to say when she spoke. It´s been a lot of years since I´ve seen her or my buddy Doug. But Deirdre and Doug had a positive impact on my life. Although there is sorrow for all her family members and friends left behind. We must remember that her forever has just begun. And she is now waiting for her loved ones to join her in eternity forever.
