Pritam Brar Obituary

Pritam Kaur Brar, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, CA, surrounded by her loving family.

She was 87, and will be remembered as a devoted sister, aunt, great-aunt, and cherished friend.

Born on May 5, 1937, in Tarn Taran, Amritsar, India, to the late Thakar Singh and Kartar Kaur, Pritam was one of eight siblings.

Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and the enduring bonds of family and friendship.

She was passionate about her work with the Marysville Unified School District Adult Education branch. She dedicated her professional life in the U.S.A., England, and Zambia, Africa.

Pritam Kaur Brar spent her early life serving others and was a distinguished scholar. She earned a Master's in Elementary Education from Punjab University, India.

Pritam completed her second Master's in Counseling Education from San Jose State University, CA, with funding from Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

She was a lifelong teacher. Her firm commitment to family and education was evident in her life. Her immediate and extended family were always her priority, and her work family became part of her extended family.

Pritam settled in Marysville and Yuba City, CA, where she was a beloved educator within the community.

Her students cherished her for her coaching and mentorship, often visiting her during holidays to express their gratitude.

Pritam was dedicated to teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) and played a pivotal role in helping students prepare for and pass the US citizenship exam.

Her honesty, warmth, and friendly demeanor left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

After retiring in 2011, Pritam enjoyed cooking Indian cuisine and playing cards with friends and family.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her but forever remembered for her kindness, devotion, and positive impact on countless lives. Her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at 11 AM, at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond St., Yuba City, CA, 95991.
