VIOLET LYDIA LINCOLN Violet Lydia Lincoln, 89, of Standish, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Bayfield Assisted Living and Memory Care in Bay City, Michigan, under the loving care of her family and hospice. Born October 22, 1935, in Au Gres to the late Henry and Mollie (Huber) Schonmeier, Violet graduated from Au Gres-Sims High School before beginning a distinguished career in banking. She started at Au Gres State Bank and later dedicated over 34 years to the State Bank of Standish, retiring as a supervisor. Violet was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom she created countless treasured memories. She found joy in puzzles and Sudoku and was proud of her beautiful collections of vintage tea cups, saucers, and Depression glass. Committed to her community, Violet gave many years of service working the election polls. A woman of deep faith, she was a longtime member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Standish. On January 22, 1955, Violet married her husband and best friend,John Allen Lincoln, at the Methodist Church in Au Gres. They shared nearly 63 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2018. In addition to her husband and parents, Violet was preceded in death by her brother Harold Schonmeier, niece Lori Schonmeier, and nephew Eric Welch. She is survived by her three children: Carol (Ronald) Freehling of Au Gres, Kenneth Lincoln of Rockford, Michigan, and Keith (Hope) Lincoln of Midland; five grandchildren: Adam, April, Kelly, Jaclyn (Shannon), and Faith (David); three great-grandchildren: Raygen, Adam Jr., and Isaiah; as well as many extended family members and dear friends. Visitation was held at Buresh Funeral Home in Au Gres on Thursday, July 17, from 2:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services took place at the funeral home on Friday, July 18, at 11:00 AM, led by Pastor Larry Seafert, with a gathering and meal following. Per Violet's wishes, cremation will follow the funeral, and she will be laid to rest at Sims-Whitney Cemetery in Au Gres at a later date. In honor of Violet's memory, donations may be made to the Dementia Society of America or the Alzheimer's Association. Messages of love and support may be shared with Violet's family through the online guest registry.
