Robert Rodriguez Obituary

ROBERT "BOB" PAUL RODRIGUEZ

April 25, 1942 - May 20, 2025

Arvin – Bob was born in Caliente, CA to parents Joe and Delores Rodriguez. He spent his childhood with very fond memories in Caliente with his 6 siblings. After graduating from Bakersfield High School in 1960, he remained a proud Driller, attending his last Class Reunion (65th) in April 2025.

Bob met his loving and beautiful wife Cheryl in 1963. They married on January 14, 1967 in Arvin, CA where they lived in their forever home for 58 years. In 1974, Bob and Cheryl welcomed their only child, Amanda. Bob was a dedicated family man who worked hard and was always known to give a helping hand. He truly loved being outdoors and in his early days you could find him off roading his Jeep or hunting. He had a deep love for horses that took him into his next outdoor phase of team penning and roping. His favorite event found him returning year after year to the Twin Oaks-Caliente Labor Day Weekend Rodeo. And once he retired from the Arvin WWTP after 35 years, you could always find him at his horse corral, where he doted over his horses and meticulously maintained the grounds. Bob kept himself active in the Arvin Community after retirement, serving on many Boards over the years – Arvin Community Services Water District, Kern County Mosquito and Vector Control, and most recently the Bear Mtn. Parks & Recreation. He never met a stranger and his contributions to his community are a true testament to the man he was.

More than anything, Bob will be remembered as a loving Husband, Father and Grandpa. He enjoyed spending as much time as he could with his grandkids, whether it was watching Jadyn cheering at football games or having Hudson drive him around the ranch to check the fences. His family was his greatest joy and his memory will live on in all of our hearts.

Bob is survived by his wife Cheryl, daughter Amanda and son-in-law Tom, grandchildren Jadyn and Hudson, brother Steve and sisters Rita and Aurora, nieces, nephews and many friends.
