Jo Ann North Obituary

Jo Ann (Merriman) North, 77, of Calico Rock, Arkansas, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, in Little Rock, Arkansas.

She was born on Oct. 7, 1947, in Gainesville, Missouri, to Otis and Polly (Jones) Merriman. She was married to her late husband, Ronny North, for 40 years. He preceded her in death by only 74 days. She was a housekeeper and enjoyed her job very much.

She retired from the Community Medical Center of Calico Rock in 2014. Jo Ann loved going to Walmart and never passed up an opportunity to go on a shopping trip. She also enjoyed going to thrift stores and flea markets, reading books, putting together large puzzles and spending time with her family.

She loved her coffee, and she was rarely seen without a cup of coffee and a book in her hand. She also enjoyed cooking and made the best fried chicken and pinto beans with cornbread. No one ever left her house hungry.

She was the second oldest of five siblings. As teenagers in the '60s, Jo Ann and her oldest sister, Joyce (Sissy), and cousin, Willadean, used to run around all over the place in Sissy's '59 Chevy making lots of fun memories. She had an infectious smile and was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin and will be deeply missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Greg Alan Hall; her husband, Ronny North.

She leaves behind three daughters, Teresa Jo Hall of Springfield, Missouri, Amanda (Joshua) Fulks of Alco, Arkansas, and Laura Bradshaw of Fayetteville, Arkansas; four grandsons, Dalton Fuller of Mountain View, Arkansas, Grayson Gosser, Kade Fulks and Gannon Fulks of Alco, Arkansas; four siblings, Joyce Edwards of Berryville, Arkansas, Jean (Fred) Truelove of Branson, Missouri, Joy Truelove of Dunnellon, Florida, and Joshua (Staci) Merriman of Hollister, Missouri. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A visitation will be held between 2-3 p.m.on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Roller Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow. Interment will be at Peel Cemetery with pallbearers Josh Fulks, Dalton Fuller, Matt Burrous, Kelly Hoecker, J.A. Merriman and Sam Burrous and honorary pallbearers, Grayson Gosser, Kade Fulks, Gannon Fulks, Gary Fulks and Ray Carneal.
