Barbara Allen Obituary

Barbara Allen, 85, of Sour Lake, TX passed away at her home with her family on Thursday, May 1, 2025. She was born on July 30, 1939, in Beaumont, TX to Lillian C. Dugue and Raul Gilbert.

Survivors include her husband, James W. "JW" Allen; children, Janet Allen Swearingen of Sour Lake; Curtis Allen and his wife, Beatrice, of San Antonio; and Christopher Allen and his wife, Amy, of Cypress; grandchildren, Hilary, Jacob, and Hannah; sister, Madelyn Howard; beloved granddog, Faith; closest friend, Carlene Holt; and multiple nieces and nephews. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Regina Ainsworth.

She spent her life as a devoted homemaker to her family, a loving wife to her husband J.W., and caring mother to her three children. During her life she acquired experience and knowledge through her employment with hospitals, insurance companies, and financial institutions. This culminated in the establishment of her own business of almost forty years as a Medicare Insurance Specialist.

While she was dedicated to her career and customers, she always made it a priority to also dedicate time towards her culinary passions in the kitchen sharing both meals and her time with family, friends and loved ones.

A Rosary for Mrs. Allen will be recited at 5:00 p.m. with a gathering of family and friends to follow until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 8, 2025, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2025, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 210 West Barkley Street, Sour Lake, with her interment to follow at Rosedale Cemetery.

She was indeed a beautiful lady inside and out. And we will miss her immensely. I had never made Salmon croquet´s and she showed me how and so delicious plus her extremely delicious desserts. Thank you Barbara I will always remember the warmth when you invited me into the family. Never be another like you. RIP sweet lady
