Johnny Schmieg Obituary

Johnny Ray Schmieg, 72, of Fairview Heights, IL, passed away on January 24, 2026. Born on July 13, 1953, Johnny was the beloved son of the late Barbara J. and Merle Schmieg.

A proud graduate of Belleville East High School, Johnny began his career as a truck driver at the young age of 18. He dedicated over five decades to the profession, retiring at the age of 69. His work ethic and commitment were admired by all who knew him.

Johnny was predeceased by his cherished wife, Sharon Schmieg. He is survived by his loving son, Brian Schmieg; his grandson, Austin Schmieg; and his loyal dog, Frankie. Johnny's family and friends will forever remember him for his kindhearted nature and unwavering love for those around him.

He found joy in spending time with family and friends and was a regular attendee at the weekly auction-a pastime he greatly enjoyed. Known for his stubborn yet warm-hearted personality, Johnny touched the lives of many as a devoted son, father, husband, grandfather, and friend.

May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
