Donald Capella Obituary

Donald J. Capella, 90, resident of Woodford, VT passed away on July 17, 2025.

Donald was born in Bennington, VT on December 4, 1934 to the late Edward and Anna (Mahon) Capella. He was one of two children.

Donald would receive his education in Bennington, and would later go on to join the United States Navy. He proudly served his country for four years during the Korean War. Donald would later marry the love of his life, Anita (Jolly) Capella in 1959. Together they would raise three children: Laurie, Cheryl, and Karl Capella.

Both he and Anita prided in their endeavors of owning their own business. Donald was the owner and operator of Capella Heating & Plumbing - which he and Anita operated for 20 years. Donald was also the owner of many rental apartments which he worked for 50 years. The couple built a foundation together, and found much joy in being able to traverse through their working years as a team.

Other than being a self-employed man, Donald had many hobbies and interests. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Donald, being as crafty and handy as he was, loved to build furniture, and restore antique cars.

Donald is survived by his children, Laurie Capella of Winchester, NH, and Karl Capella (Meridy) of Bennington, VT and his son-in-law Alan (Jeff) Edwards of Bennington. His grandchildren: Austynn Edwards (Kristin) of Bennington, VT, Jhordyn Edwards Tommasino (Chris) of Petersburgh, NY, Eva Capella of Bennington, VT, and Erich Capella of Bennington, VT and great-grandchildren twins Elsie and Nova and little Lorna Edwards, soon to arrive.

Donald is predeceased by his wife, Anita Capella. His daughter, Cheryl Edwards. His brother, Carl (Gig) Capella.

Services for Donald are to be private and held at the convenience of the family.
