Catherine Haddad Obituary

Catherine Ann Haddad, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and honorary mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 12th surrounded by her family and friends.

Born in North Adams, MA on April 15, 1935, to Karime and Genivieve Shaker Haddad. She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School in 1954, where she and her brother George were proudly voted "Best Dancers" by her classmates. Their spirited jitterbug at graduation is still fondly remembered.

Ms. Haddad worked for the New England Bell Phone Company as a telephone operator and later a billing clerk from 1954 until she retired.

Though she never had children of her own, she adored her nephews and was a devoted Aunt to her "boys", David, Billy, Robert,Cary and Michael. She also stepped in when her cousin Louis' wife Anna passed away, to support her children, George and Liz. She was a guiding presence throughout their lives and was "Sitto" to Anna, Matthew, Daniel, Julia and Benjamin and regarded them as her grandchildren.

A devout Catholic, her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She never missed a Sunday Mass and cherished her time at church with her parish community. Her days were centered around prayer service and a profound relationship with God. Her rosary was never far from her hands.

Family and friends were everything to her. She enjoyed many ski trips and outings with her friends. She was very proud of her Lebanese heritage and would often make her Tabouli share it with everyone on special occasions.

Catherine is survived by her brothers, George Haddad and wife Virginia of North Fort Myers, FL, and their sons, David (Dawn), Billy (Lynn), and Robert (Julie). Marshall Haddad and wife Anna of Westchester County, NY and their sons, Micheal (April) and Cary (Kathy). As well as nephew George Haddad and wife Shari of Pittsfield and niece Elizabeth and husband Edward of Dalton, as well as her nieces and grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Catherine's private aid, Bonnie Weingold, her caretaker and friend who shared many great experiences with her.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held, Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Charles Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Strong Little Souls, a nonprofit organization that helps to brighten the lives of children battling cancer, in care of Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.

Happy to have many fond memories with Catherine. She was one of my mother's very best friends. I still won't eat the piedmont toast at the Forge because of her. IYKYK. So glad I picked up the phone when she called my parents house the last time I was visiting. Even though she meant to call someone else I was able to tell her I loved her. Rest in Peace Catherine and look out for us below.
