Emmitt Bartee Obituary

Emmitt Howard Bartee passed away peacefully on June 20th, 2025 with several of the people that loved him most at his side.
He was born September 11th, 1942 in Olney, Tx. After a stint in the US Navy, he returned to West Texas and married Glenda Dean Love. Together they raised a son, Emmitt II and a daughter Anissa.
He enjoyed a long career as an oilfield electrician, with an outstanding reputation, trusted and respected by his peers throughout the region.
Many hearts are heavy with his loss, because Emmitt was a truly special man. He embodied the best of what West Texans are: true to his word, tough, hard working, sharp, humble and big hearted. He was always ready with a smile, eager to help, and when he told you "Take your time going, but hurry back!", he meant it.
He could glean more joy from a dog, a bag of Oreos and an old movie (Western or Sci-Fi!) than most people could buy with a fortune.
He loved music…any type. He was always good to go for concerts…from country swing to heavy metal and everything in between. If it had a beat, he would tap his foot and nod his head….even if he was deep asleep.
Emmitt was proceeded in death by his wife Glenda, his mother- Margaret and step-father Hubert Haston, his brother Virgil Haston and two sisters.
He is survived by his son Emmitt Bartee II, and grandson Emmitt "Trey" Bartee III. His daughter Anissa McLaughlin, her husband Stephen and grandkids Elijah Conner, Addison, and Jack McLaughlin. His much beloved niece, Teanna Love (always one of his favorites!), his brothers Herky and Haskell Haston, and numerous nieces and nephews.
And his good pal, Otto.
Anissa would tell you she had the greatest Daddy, Emmitt would tell you he had the greatest daughter. Their bond was inspirational. No doubt her love and care added years to his life, and she made sure they were filled with joy and laughter.
Celebration of life on July 12th , 11:00 am at Harper Funeral home in San Angelo, Tx. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hands of Mercy Cat Sanctuary in San Angelo.

"Cares of the past are behind
Nowhere to go, but I'll find
Just where the trail will wind
Drifting along with the tumblin' tumbleweeds
I'll keep rolling along
Deep in my heart is a song
Here on the range I belong
Drifting along with the tumblin' tumbleweeds"

-Tumbling Tumbleweeds, 1934, Bob Dolan
