Linda was born March 23rd, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York. She married John Cypert on June 22nd, 1966. They would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this summer. Linda spent the early years of her life in New York before moving to San Angelo. She attended many schools throughout West Texas before ending up in Garden City to finish her education. She met Smiley there at the age of 14 and fell in love with him at first sight. Linda was a pillar in the community, volunteering in many organizations including school activities, church functions, led Boy Scout troops and offered home childcare to dozens of children in the community for years. She never turned away a mother or child who couldn't afford to pay her, her beliefs were "pay me what you can, when you can." She helped initiate the Volunteer Ambulance Service in Glasscock County which she ran for 27 years by her husband's side. She became the first paramedic in the county. She was a nurturer by heart and wanted to help anyone she could through her EMS services. Along with her husband, she helped operate Cypert Butane Company up until the last few years when her children took over.
Survivors include her husband, John Duwain Cypert, two sons, Ed Duwain Cypert of Garden City, Richard Cypert of Big Spring and one daughter, Leasa Lowery & husband, Kenny Lowery of Garden City; four grandchildren, Dylan Lowery and wife, Emily of Lubbock, Austen Lowery and wife, Katie of Midland, Ragan Lowery of Abilene, and Karson Lowery of Garden City; two great-grandchildren, Oliver (Ollie) and Evelyn (Evie); one niece, Kristen Jones Gaithright and husband, Melvin of Alice, great niece Taryn, and two great nephews, Jayce and Collin.
Linda loved all aspects of life. If anyone was ever in need, she always offered words of encouragement as well as a lending ear or hand. Linda enjoyed fishing, going to the lake and beach, family get-togethers, trips to Las Vegas and any sporting event she could watch. She was an avid reader and many nights would stay up to read an entire novel. She loved to crochet and made afghans for many of her friends and family. Linda also had a gift of writing; she touched many lives with her personal letters. Her greatest joys in life were her four grandsons and two great grandbabies. Her legacy will live on in the comforting advice she offered and the many hearts she touched as well as her love for animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Lamartina and Trilby Giles, and one sister, Suzy LaMartina Jones
