With deep sorrow and much love, we announce the passing of Sally Lorene Harris Harper, a devoted and cherished wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She passed away peacefully on Sept. 27, 2025, at the age of 90.
She was born on July 14, 1935, in Reform, Missouri. Sally was the youngest daughter of Amos and Martha Hampton. She married Charles William Harris Oct. 11, 1952, and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage.
Together, she and Charlie raised four sons, Roger, Stan, Dave, and Billy, with grace and patience. As the heart of her family, she created a home filled with love, warmth, laughter, and Jesus. Sally had a deep and abiding faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She used her faith as a foundation for her family and every decision she made. Sally's positive influence was felt by all who knew her, from her own children and grandchildren to the children of The Church of the Nazarene in Bolivar, who considered her an honorary mother, grandmother, and most importantly "The Candy Lady".
While her sons were young, Sally and Charlie spent most of their free time supporting their children at their various sporting events. They seldom missed a baseball or a football game. In her later years, Sally enjoyed fishing, quilting, and volunteer work at the church.
After Charlie's death, Sally married Bert Harper, who was her loving companion until her death. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, Jason, Elizabeth, Brett, Amanda, Jessie, Kristen, Taylor, Jacob, and Rachel. She also treasured every moment spent with her great-grandchildren, Chloe, Jenna, Lawson, Sophia, Briggs, Pryce, Paicyn, Clare, Cetch, Nate, Stella, and Skyler. Other survivors include her four sons, Roger and Sandy Harris of Anadarko, Oklahoma, Stan and Cheryl Harris of Shreveport, Louisiana, Dave and Ginny Harris of Arcadia, Oklahoma, and
Bill and Cathy Harris of Jefferson City, and one sister-in-law, Sylvia Hampton of Fulton. Sally shared a special relationship with her loving niece and "daughter," Mickey Fuller, who was a special comfort to her in her later years.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and three sisters, Hazel, Edith, Velma, Oscar "Hamp," James "Jimmy," Clifford, and Delbert "Buster."
