Bonita Crosby Obituary

Bonita B. Crosby, of rural Decatur, Indiana, entered her heavenly home on January 24, 2025, She was born on March 23, 1949, in Fort Wayne, IN to Robert W. and Dorothy M. Buhr. She married Michael W. Crosby in 1984, and they shared 40 wonderful years together. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Decatur, where she was a regular volunteer for the church and school, as well as several community organizations. She was a 1967 graduate of Concordia High School of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She worked in General Aviation and Air Cargo in Fort Wayne for 30 years.

Bonnie never knew a stranger and was known for journaling and writing letters to others. She loved cats, enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, and was always willing to jump in the car for a long drive. 35+ memorable years were also spent during the summers on Snow Lake where she hosted birthday parties, family reunions, and many relaxing weekends. She had a knack for always making people feel welcome and cared for.

She is survived by her husband, son Michael T. (Shelby) Crosby, granddaughter, Marjorie Ruth Crosby, sister, Sheryl K. (David) Avery, and nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Thomas F. Buhr.

A Memorial Service for Bonnie will be held on Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church-Fuelling in Decatur, Indiana. Interment will be held at a later date at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery-Fuelling.

Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur. The family requests that you wear casual attire.

Preferred Memorials may be made directly to St. Peter Lutheran Church-Fuelling or St. Peter-Immanuel Lutheran School, Decatur.
