Ellis Dosher Obituary

Ellis Harper Dosher R. of Steinhatchee, Florida was born September 18, 1930 at Virginia Beach, Virginia to William Asa Dosher Sr. and Blanche Lydia Lee Dosher. He passed from this life at 94 yrs. On July 10, 2025 at home in Steinhatchee, Florida.

Ellis graduated from Manatee County High School in Bradenton, Florida. He went on to graduate from Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree. He was an officer in the Navy for two years, and after his discharge, went to work for Lykes Brothers Steamship Company.

It was while working for Lykes brothers that he met his future wife, Patricia Ann Courter, a college student at Florida State University. Patricia worked with his mother, Blanche, at Belk Lindsey Department store in Bradenton, who was instrumental in their meeting. In 1957 Patricia and Ellis were married.

He was a Christian and active member of Churches of Christ in Florida and Tennessee until the last few years of his life.

Ellis was quite the entrepreneur! He was a master electrician, building contractor (Dosher Electric and Dosher Construction), commercial fisherman and creator and owner of D's Smoked Fish Spread.

He was a student of Karate and won many awards and trophies. He loved to read, especially Louis L'Amour western novels.

He leaves behind his wife, Patricia, five sons, Ellis H. Dosher, Jr. (Ann-Marie), David, Paul (Tammie), James (Sherri), and Daniel, 7 grandsons, 11 granddaughters, 8 great grandsons and 3 great granddaughters.

There will be a memorial service for him September 20, 2025 at the Steinhatchee Community Center. Time TBA.
