Lorraine Mildred (Crowell) Burdo, 92, passed peacefully in her sleep Saturday, April 5th, 2025. She resided at Woodlands Senior Living,
Farmington, Maine for the past 2 years.
Lorraine was born in Bakersfield, Vermont, February 18th, 1933, to Mildred Reba (Ingalls) and Lawrence George Crowell. She grew up in the Hinsdale and Chesterfield, New Hampshire area. She attended Hinsdale High School. Lorraine lived in New Hampshire, Vermont, Florida, New York and Massachusetts. Lorraine married Fredrick Paul Burdo on August 18th, 1950. They raised three sons, Rick, Ron and Doug. Lorraine was married 56 years to the love of her life, when he passed. She was always very proud of "the boys", as she always called them. She taught them a strong work ethic.
Lorraine always worked very hard to help support her family. She at times held two or three jobs. She worked mostly as a bookkeeper/secretary. Lorraine was very proud of her job with House of Lloyd, where she won prizes in top sales, such as her trip to Hawaii. She was a member of the Salem Legion Auxiliary, Salem, New York. Lorraine loved RVing. She was known for her Corn Chowder! She loved to share it with her friends. Lorraine liked to feed people. In later years, she loved Karaoke, Country Music and Bluegrass Festivals.
Her parents passed, as did five of her siblings. Rose Domina (husband Arden), Lefty Crowell (wife Irma), Al Crowell (wife Yaeko), Hubert Crowell (wife Linda), Kevin Crowell. She has a brother Donald Crowell who resides in California. Lorraine is survived by her children, Fredrick (Rick) Burdo and his wife Sue of Hayden, Alabama, Ronald (Ron) Burdo of Salem, New York, Douglas (Doug) Burdo and his wife Linda of Peru, Maine. Her grandchildren, Crystal Marsh of Austin, Texas, Ricky Marsh (deceased), Robert Burdo of Hayden, Alabama, Timothy Burdo and his wife Michele of Shaftsbury, Vermont, Tonia Goddard and her husband AJ of Salem, NY, Eric Burdo and his wife Miranda of Rumford, Maine and Sheila Bright and her husband Matthew of Peru, Maine. Her great-grandchildren, Katelyn McMillian and her husband Steven of Hayden, Alabama, Nekia Burdo (deceased), Kienan Burdo and Jacob Burdo of Shaftsbury, Vermont, Bailey Fifield USAF Mt Holly, New Jersey and Kuwait, Chailyn Fifield of South Glens Falls, New York, Wyatt Fifield, Carlybelle (deceased) and Maddox Goddard of Salem, New York, Geoffrey Burdo and his wife Katelyn of Skowhegan, Maine, Ella Burdo of Rumford, Maine, Anastacia Bright of Rumford, Maine, Isaac Bright, USMC Kaneohe, Hawaii and Australia, Myckayla McLean and her husband Tanner of Peru, Maine and USMC Japan, Kaelynn Bright, Samantha Bright, Joseph Bright, Charlotte Bright, Stephanie Bright, all of Peru, Maine. Great-great grandchildren Gia Burdo and Kiara Burdo both of Skowhegan, Maine, and Harper Leigh McLean of Peru, Maine. Also, many nieces, nephews and friends.
A graveside service will be held in early summer, in Hinsdale, New Hampshire. Donations in Lorraine Burdo's memory can be made to the
Alzheimer's Association in your state. Alzheimer's is a disease that was close to her heart, she so wanted to see it cured in her lifetime.
