Of Boston, NY. Passed away peacefully at the age of 101 years old. Beloved husband of the late Phyllis J. Shear (née Mesmer); dearest father of Mark (Kathy) Shear and Kyle (Lee) Cool; loving grandfather of Aaron (Kristin) Shear, Adam (Tracy) Shear, Melissa (Joe) Weber and Brian (Kristeen) Cool and great-grandfather of 7 great-grandchildren; cherished brother of two late brothers and two late sisters; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. No prior visitation. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 25th at 10 AM at Faith United Church of Christ, 8651 Boston State Road, Boston, NY 14025. Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial Contributions may be made to Faith United Church of Christ or the North Boston Fire Company. Funeral arrangements entrusted to LOOMIS, OFFERS & LOOMIS INC. FUNERAL HOME (Hamburg Chapel).

Fred was a gentleman. We are forever grateful Fred Shear came into our lives. His stories of life, war and marriage were an inspiration. To be introduced to a man at 90 yrs old and have 11 years of friendship is remarkable. The beef stew you made for us is now a regular recipe in the Brady family cookbook. It´s legendary just like you. Thank you Fred.

The Southwestern Association of Volunteer Firemen, State of New York extends its sincere sympathy and condolences to the family and friends of Frederick Shear of the North Boston Volunteer Fire Company. His passing reminds us to reflect on his extraordinary sacrifice of time in the service of others. Let's celebrate his gift, and give thanks for all he did to provide aid, protection, and comfort to those in danger. Thanks, Fred, now rest in peace.

Our condolences to the Shear Family. Fred was an incredible guy who took my wife and I under his wing when we joined the North Boston Fire Company. He knew so much and always had the patience to share his knowledge. RIP Fred - it was really great that our paths crossed.
