Passed away on May 30, 2025, at the age of 90 in Buffalo, NY. Born on July 22, 1934, in Rochester, NY, she dedicated 34 years of her life to Sweet Home High School and was a devoted parishioner at St. Leo the Great Church. Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Richard, and their children: Kevin (Karen) Brooks, Stephen (Catherine) Brooks, Maureen (Vern) Bia, Peggy (Jack) Mathison, Sharon Rose (Mike Wess), Julie (Greg) MacDonald, Johnna (Kevin) Winnert, and Paula (Michael) Colburn. She was a cherished Gigi to 28 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Her siblings Jack (Jane) Mattle, Sr. Annette Mattle, and Sr. Margaret Mattle, as well as her parents, John and Florence (McNiff) Mattle, preceded her in death. A Visitation will be held at Lombardo Funeral Home (885, Niagara Falls Blvd, Amherst, NY 14226) on Tuesday, June 10, from 4-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, June 11, at 9 am at St. Leo the Great Church (885 Sweet Home Rd, Amherst, NY 14226). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice in memory of Mary Lou. Condolences may be made at www.lombardofuneralhome.com.

To the family of Mary Lou Brooks, I was saddened to learn of Mary Lou's passing. It has been some time since I work with and benefited from her assistance at Sweet Home High School. Mary Lou was so helpful, patient, and understanding as she help me in my role as a young part time administrator. She was kind and hard working always. May God welcome her and may she be at peace.
