Bonnie Hoyer Obituary

The gates of Heaven swung wide open for Bonnie Hoyer, age 98, who passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, in Burnet, Texas. She was born on December 8, 1926, in Sunshine Hill, Electra, Texas. Her childhood was remarkable for its lack of worldly goods and amenities - as contrasted with - a great love and family environment afforded by her wonderful parents Minnia (Mammy) and Edgar Harris, and, of course, her fellow rowdy siblings, Billy, Jack, Mary, Peggy, and Patty.

She spent most of her adult life in Corpus Christi, Texas, where she built her home and raised her family. Bonnie was known for her unwavering love of our Lord, and she made double dad-gum sure that on Sundays her children were in tow and going to Sunday School and Church.

Our Mom was involved in her children's day-to-day activities. She was the Brownie leader for Dana, the Den mother for David, and PTA for all of us. She would tell us that "we could do or be anything that we want to be". Mom kept an immaculate home; indeed, she painted the rooms so often that the texture disappeared. She played tennis with her girlfriends, and she corralled up the neighborhood kids and took them to the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi for them to learn to swim by Navy personnel. She was not a shy laid-back person!

She is survived by her children Dana Hoyer West (Robert-deceased) of Burnet, TX, and David Hoyer (Robin) of San Antonio, TX, her granddaughters Heather Bryant Warren (Joey) of Burnet, TX, and Katy Hoyer Turk (John) of Bulverde, TX. Bonnie has four great grandkids, Evelyn, Adeline, Lorelei, and Hal Turk; in addition, she has a special "bonus grandson" Patrick West (Tammi) and June Bug. She is pre-deceased by her husband Charles H. Hoyer in 2013 and her son Lloyd Hoyer in 2017 of Corpus Christi, TX.

A private/family viewing will be held in her honor in Burnet, TX, and following this the family will hold a private/family service at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.
