Tech. Sgt. David Ralph Curtis, 73, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, April 4, 2024. He was born Nov. 3, 1950, in Waynesburg, Pa. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Rudolph Curtis; mother, Thelma "Ariel" (Erskine) Curtis; and brothers, Daniel and Robert Curtis.
He was a man who loved the Lord, his family and his country. He also loved being outside hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and the freedom he felt riding his motorcycle. Always ready for an adventure, traveling and visiting many places around the world. David was a huge football fan and loved his Pittsburgh Steelers.
David was a member of Church on the Green, Assembly of God in Arizona, and loved singing in the choir while he lived there for 18 years.
Serving in the United States Air Force for 21 years as a technical sergeant, he received the Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with three oak-leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal with one oak-leaf cluster, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with two oak-leaf clusters, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with two oak-leaf clusters, Air Force Overseas Service Short Tour Ribbon and Air Force Training Ribbon. David served in Vietnam and Desert Storm. After the military, he drove an 18-wheeler for Swift before retiring.
A beloved and cherished husband, father and grandpa, this devoted Christian man will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife, Katherine "Kathy" Sherman Curtis; four sons, Daniel Curtis (Daniel Jr. and Zachary), Richard and Allessia Curtis (Seth, Savana and Rhydian Curtis and Joseph Black), Matthew and Amanda Curtis (Rylie, Ava and Kobe), and David and Melissa Curtis (Haley and Wesley); daughter, Honor Whitelow (Charles Curtis and Zoey Whitelow); stepson, William Wilkins (Montana Brunelle and Zoey Wilkins); stepdaughter, Amanda, and James Neall (Taylor); five great-grandchildren; Aunt Betty and Uncle Richard Kennedy; sister-in-law, Nancy Curtis; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
