Joseph Schulte Obituary
Joseph (Joe) Henry Schulte, age 63, of Caledonia, MN died on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Edenbrook of Rochester. He died peacefully with family at his bedside after an ongoing struggle with respiratory issues.
Joe was born in Caledonia on February 13, 1962 to Leo and Winifred Schulte. He was number seven of the nine Schulte children. Joe attended Caledonia High School where he played football and wrestled. He also enjoyed working on the farm, riding motorcyles and hunting.
Joe suffered a life-altering car accident at the age of 17. Faced with physical limitations, he consistently demonstrated extraordinary courage and determination inspiring everyone who knew him with his unwavering resolve.
During his recovery Joe lived in several facilities where he worked diligently on physical, occupational and speech therapies. He returned home to Caledonia in 2000 where he lived in ABLE group homes. For 29 years he worked at Woodland Industries and was very proud of his work contribution.
In April 2023 he moved to Edenbrook of Rochester where he made friends with residents and enjoyed the staff. Despite all his challenges he was a happy, positive and very social guy. Joe was an avid Vikings football fan and was fortunate to attend some games. He loved playing blackjack, listening to classic rock and visiting with his family and friends. His strong Catholic faith helped sustain him throughout the years.
Preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Winifred Schulte, his grandparents Henry and Genevieve Meyer and August and Agnes Schulte, brother-in-law Dave Rome.
Survived by his eight siblings: Janice Rome, Anne (Myron) Falken, Debra (Dave) Albersman, Michael Schulte, John (Patty) Schulte, Stephen (Julie) Schulte, Mark (Linda) Schulte, Ellen (Kevin) Fried and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, August 1 at 11 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Andrew Vogel will officiate, and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Visitation will be from 9 until 10:45 am Friday, August 1 at St. Mary's Holy Family Hall. A luncheon will be held in Holy Family Hall at the conclusion of the service.
Memorials may be given to ABLE of Houston County, Woodland Industries, Caledonia and St. Mary's Church, Caledonia. McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia, is assisting the family.
