On May 21, 2025 Susan A. Greenhorn Coburn passed away and met with her son Jason T. Coburn, parents Maria(h) and Kenneth Greenhorn, many ancestors and close friends. Sue was born in Baltimore, MD on April 11, 1961, grew up in the neighborhood of Country Club Estates, graduated from Glen Burnie High School in 1979 and from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) with a BS in Information Systems Management. She found herself many times as the only female in her college courses and the only woman at the office conference table in a predominantly male field. She had a successful career as a software project manager working for private contractors and retiring from the federal government in 2021. Over the years, Sue mentored many co-workers helping them to grow in their careers. Sue worked hard, and loved living and playing along the tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay. She learned how to water ski on Marley Creek, crabbed with her family along the Chester River, and piloted her family's cabin cruiser at nine years old on the Bodkin. Finally, in adulthood, she owned and captained the boat of her dreams on the Magothy. Her favorite place to visit yearly was Key West with North Shore friends. Sue also shared her Friday evenings cruising on the Magothy with the 'sofa boat crew'. As a certified scuba diver since her 30's, she enjoyed diving throughout many locations in the Bahamas, Hawaii, and her most amazing experience at the Great Barrier Reef. As a young girl, Sue was diagnosed with genetic kidney disease. As a young adult, repeated severe cases of staghorn kidney stones and infections prompted many painful procedures, yet she always remained determined and didn't let it stop her. In 2017, she underwent a kidney transplant which was donated by her younger sister, Stacey. Her doctor was impressed; he had never seen such a perfect match. While working a full time career, Sue attended classes and became a certified massage therapist. While working on clients, she realized there was more behind the anatomical injury and decided to take courses in energy work. She was a Reiki Master in Usui, Karuna, Kundalini and Lighterian. Later, she would also complete herbology training, blending her own essential oils to promote emotional, physical and spiritual well-being. She generously donated her massage and healing services. It was her way of giving back. Sue had a super quick mind, so witty and could always make her friends and family laugh even in life's darkest moments. Surviving Sue are her two sisters Stephanie (Sean), and Stacey, special family friend Mandy (Eddie) and their children, the wonderful M & M's, who brought joy to her life everyday. She enjoyed traveling as a family and entertaining them with her imaginative stories. Donations in Sue's memory may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake at
