Dharlys Fleharty Obituary

Dharlys Fleharty 94 formerly of Detour left her earthly body on January 12, 2025 to join the love of her life William Fleharty of 47 years and son Wayne. She was born in Pennsylvania moved to Washington DC where she met her husband, moved to Detour where she raised her family, Wayne, Ellen Peterson, Bruce, and Diane Bixler. Beside her children she leaves her daughter-in-law's, Karen Fleharty, Donna Fleharty, son-in-law John Bixler, 21 grandchildren and nephew Shawn Wolfgang. Besides being a wonderful and loving person and raising her children she wrote a neighborhood column for 9 years for the Carrol County Times, treasurer at Keysville Lutheran Church for 12 years, active in the homemakers, a 4-H leader plus worked outside her home before moving to Palm Coast Fl in 1981. A family service will be held at a later in Keysville. I would spend a couple weeks every summer at Uncle Bill and Aunt Dharlys house in the summer and I remember at dinner she had brussell sprouts and would make me stay at the table until I ate them. Understand, I hate brussels sprouts to this day! But she would make up for it with her apple crisp which I love so much! She was such an excellent cook!!! When I was serving in Vietnam she would send rum balls but by the time they got to me, they had fermented and my comrades loved them as well!! What a treat they were!! She also made the apple crisp but again by the time it got to me it wasn't so crisp! Ha, Ha! I am going to MISS her bear hugs! XOXO
