Ruth Barrett Obituary

Ruth Eva Barrett, 94, of Baltimore and most recently Westminster and Kingsville, passed peacefully January 8th in the company of family. Born December 31st, 1930, in Baltimore, she was the daughter of the late George and Eva Beck (nee Buettner) and was preceded in death by her brother Charles Beck, her second husband Frank Barrett, and her first husband Robert Mulcahy. As a mother of seven she was an outstanding cook, well known for her German Potato Salad, a family favorite at every event with the correct recipe still being debated by her children and grandchildren. Some of her most enjoyable times were spent fishing with her second husband Frank in the Albemarle Sound of North Carolina and being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are her brother George Beck and his children Robert and Donna; her seven children R. Terrance Mulcahy, John (Barbara) Mulcahy, Patrick (DeAnna) Mulcahy, Katharine (Mark) Peeling, Karen (George Olsen) Mulcahy, Brian (Erika) Mulcahy, Betsy (Sara Essex) Mulcahy; eight grandchildren Dianna (Mitch) Mulcahy-Butta, Alison (Johnny Craig) Mulcahy, Ryan Mulcahy, Kate (Kartell) Johnson, Erin Peeling, Sean Peeling, Zachary (Lana) Mays, and Joseph Szabo; seven great-grandchildren: Jenna Gaskill, Brody Amrhein, Madison and Rhiley Johnson, Anastasia and Matthew Mays, and Logan Szabo. A celebration of life will be held later in 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed in her name to The Special Olympics, Team Adams, P.O.
