Sarena Harrison Obituary

Sarena Christine Harrison, 42

Sarena Cristine Harrison, 42, of Hayden, Idaho, passed away unexpectedly on June 29, 2025. Born to Paul and Sherry Munroe on June 2, 1983, Sarena was a quiet, gentle soul whose peaceful presence brought comfort and love to all who knew her.

Sarena spent her life caring for others. In her early career, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and in-home caregiver for individuals with disabilities, offering compassion, patience, and dignity to those in her care. Her greatest joy came when she became a mother-an extraordinary homemaker, wholly devoted to raising her sons and supporting her husband. Her family was her heart, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

For the past eight years, Sarena worked at Atlas Elementary School as an interventionist, where she shared her deep love of reading with children. She worked one-on-one and in small groups with students to help develop their reading skills, offering encouragement, patience, and joy in every interaction. One of her morning duties was at the school crosswalk where she enjoyed greeting students and parents in a way to help brighten their day. Her gentle guidance left a lasting impact on the lives she touched.

Sarena was a loyal friend to many and welcomed everyone she met with kindness and warmth. She cared deeply for her community and was a strong supporter of law enforcement families and first responders. Her strength, compassion, and encouragement uplifted those around her and reflected her steadfast faith and values.

Sarena was the devoted wife of Brian Harrison, her husband of 22 years, and a loving mother to their two sons, Kyler and Owen. She found joy in life's simple gifts-being with her family, camping, hiking, and reading. An animal lover, Sarena enjoyed taking the family dog on quiet walks through their neighborhood, hoping to be lucky enough to see some quail along the way. She lived with a quiet strength and a deep faith in Jesus Christ that shaped every aspect of her life.

She is survived by her husband Brian; sons Kyler and Owen; parents Paul and Sherry Munroe; brothers Micah Munroe and Adrian Sandahl; and many close friends and family who loved her dearly and will miss her deeply.

A celebration of Sarena's life will be held on July 12th at 2:00pm at Lake City Church in Coeur d'Alene.

Sarena's will had a special request. In her own words, "I would like to request that instead of mourning and feeling sad upon my birthday, that each June 2nd after my passing be spent as an 'Act of Kindness' day. I truly feel that we must be the change we wish to see in the world, and so many small acts of kindness have impacted my life. I'd like to think that my birthday could be used in that way; to make a difference and start a ripple effect of kindness."

In lieu of flowers, Sarena requested donations to support young readers. Financial contributions can be made at any ICCU branch by mentioning her name and Atlas Elementary Library.
