Myrtle Auvil Obituary

Myrtle "Myrt" Marie Auvil, 87, of Murphy, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025.
She was born Nov. 8, 1937, in Lake Toxoway, N.C., to the late Lucy and Rastus Smith.
She graduated from Brevard High School in 1955 and graduated with honors from Mars Hill College in 1999 at the age of 50. Myrtle taught at Murphy Elementary for 17 years.
"Myrt" loved her family, caregivers and friends, but above all she loved the Lord and was a member of Murphy First United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Carl Jr.
"Myrt" is survived by her husband of 70 years, Carl Auvil; a son, Brock Auvil (Penny); and a daughter, Candie Auvil of Sylva, N.C.
A service will be held at a later date.
Townson-Rose Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
