James Moe Obituary

James "Jim" Moe

September 4, 1947 - July 4, 2025

James "Jim" M. Moe, 77, of Cadott, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 4, 2025, at the Veterans Nursing Home in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

Jim was born on September 4, 1947, in Chippewa Falls to Irene (White) and Robert Moe. He was raised in the town of Lafayette and graduated from Chi-Hi in 1965. In July 1965, at the age of 17, Jim proudly joined the United States Marine Corps, serving his country with honor during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in June 1969, carrying with him a lifelong pride in his service.

On May 2, 1970, Jim married the love of his life, Judith A. Schneider, at St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls. Together, they built a beautiful life and home in Cadott, where they have lived ever since. Jim and Judy were long-standing members of St. Rose of Lima Parish.

Jim spent his career as a hardworking truck driver, a job that suited his love of the road and strong work ethic. When he wasn't behind the wheel, Jim could always be found enjoying the great outdoors. Whether it was casting a line while fishing, walking through the woods during hunting season, or tending his big backyard garden, Jim was happiest under the open sky.

He had a competitive spirit and a big heart. Tuesday and Thursday nights in the summer were sacred for trap shooting with the boys. He also never turned down a good game of cribbage or the chance to enjoy a brandy old-fashioned.

He is survived by his wife, Judith; son Brian Moe (Jess Nichols) of West Allis; daughter, Celeste (Robert) Meyers of Southlake, Texas; sister, Jeanne Moe of McFarland; brothers, Jerome Moe of Cadott and Joseph Moe of Chippewa Falls. Other surviving family members include his brother-in-law, Gary Pitts; and five cherished grandchildren: Madeline, Alex, Grace, RJ, and Nora. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Irene and Robert Moe; sister, Jacqueline Pitts, of New Auburn; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clara and William Schneider; and brothers-in-law, Joseph and John Schneider; and sister-in-law, Corrine Schneider.

The funeral mass will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2025, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Cadott with a visitation beginning at 11 a.m. at church. Fr. Felix will be officiating. The interment will be in the Bateman Cemetery, town of Lafayette with Military Honors conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.
