Della Mae Gossett, 95, Fairmount, passed away in her home, she went to be with her Lord and Savior at 9:02 pm on Saturday, August 24, 2024. She was born on Thursday, December 20, 1928, at home in rural Fowlerton to Clinton and Florence (Dome) Duling.
Mae graduated from Fairmount High School in 1946. From 1946-1949 she worked at Mid-West Food Packers in Fowlerton as a secretary. It was then, on January 29, 1949, she married the love of her life, Gilbert Bruce Gossett. He preceded her in death on September 14, 2015. During their life together, they raised twin sons and a daughter. Mae was a bookkeeper for the family business, Gossett Excavating. She lovingly cared for her family, and was a devoted homemaker. She was involved and active at the Fairmount United Methodist Church. She served as church secretary, and especially enjoyed Ladies Bible Study, her faith was very important to her. Mae and Bruce had 20 years of summers on the Barbee Chain of Lakes in North Webster, and 20 years of wintering in Ellenton, Florida.
Mae had a passion for counted cross-stitch, reading and bird-watching, she loved feeding the hummingbirds and tending her flowers. She grew up playing the piano, having learned those skills from her mother, and later loved to play the organ.
Mae's family meant the world to her, the big family dinners and the closeness everyone shared. She and Bruce always found joy in following their grandkids in their sports. She lived her life to the fullest, lifting those up around her.
Survivors include her son, Michael Alan Gossett of Fairmount; daughter, Susan Dianne (Wayne) Chapel of Jonesboro; grandsons, Shane (Kelly Rittenhouse) Henderson of Noblesville, Chad (Lindsey Hoffmann) Henderson of CA; granddaughters, Amy (Chad Whitehead) Stitt of Warsaw, Carrie (Jeff McClung) Bair of Jonesboro; eight great-granddaughters, Bree Stitt, Alexis Bair, Kenzie (Nick) Mohr, Blayklee Stitt, Emma Shoemaker, Ava Henderson, Ciera Henderson, Ella Edwards; three great-grandsons, Brayden Shoemaker, Nathan Henderson, Owen Henderson; two great-great grandsons, Leo Chapel, Wesley Mohr; beloved sister, Linda (John) Marley; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Florence Duling; husband, Gilbert Bruce Gossett; son, Steven Lynn Gossett; sister, Helen (Albert) Miller; brothers, John David Duling, Don (Loris) Duling, and Fred (Janiece) Duling.
The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Della's life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 6, 2024, at the Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel. Pastor Peter Karisa will be officiating with burial at a later date.

We all treasure the memories of having dear Aunt Mae in our lives over decades of Duling holiday gatherings, reunions, weddings and family events. We know that she smiles and approves of the 10 Memorial Trees that are being planted in her memory. Rest in peace, sweet Aunt Mae.
