James "Jay" Hoey of Citrus Springs, FL passed away on January 31, 2026 in Crystal River, FL.
Jay was born on January 15, 1935 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to James and Sophia (Bielecki) Hoey. He graduated locally from Edison Vocational High School in 1953. Jay worked as a commercial truck driver most of his life. He also had a tree business in Miami years ago. Jay loved fishing and hunting since he was young. He traveled for hunting to Vermont, Canada, New York, New Jersey, Georgia, Florida, and Pennsylvania to enjoy hunting and fishing. After retirement, he would be up at Lake Rousseau almost every day. He always had a nice boat and enjoyed days of fishing over the years.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dolores Hostetter; and brother, Michael Lettieri. Survivors include wife, Annette Hoey; sister- and brother-in-law, George & Patsy Mimnaugh; nephew, Leonard Hostetter; and many family relatives, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Jay was laid to rest at Fero Memorial Gardens in Beverly Hills, FL.
