James Frederick Cahill, beloved husband, devoted father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather and cherished brother, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025 at the age of 91. Born on May 15, 1934 in York Center Ohio, Jim was the son of Fred and Gladys Cahill and grew up alongside his siblings, Linda and Larry, with whom he shared a close and lasting bond.
Jim built a long and respected career in telecommunications and computer systems at General Electric. Known for his quiet determination, steady work ethic and thoughtful intelligence, he contributed to significant advancements during a pivotal time in technological history. But it was his role as a father and family man that brought Jim the most fulfillment.
He lovingly raised his two sons, James Frederick Cahill, Jr. and Daniel Patrick Cahill, and took great pride in the legacy they continue to carry forward. He was also a devoted grandfather to James and Erin and a proud great-grandfather of Grace and Alexander who brought him endless joy and light in his later years.
In 1978, Jim married Eileen Mary Holland, his beloved wife and partner of more than four decades. Their marriage was filled with warmth, laughter, and shared adventure. Together they traveled the world by land and sea and Jim especially treasured time spent golfing, exploring new places and simply enjoying quiet moments together.
Jim will be remembered for his kind heart, calming presence, gentle humor, and the deep love he held for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories he created with those he loved most.
He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Gladys Cahill and is survived by his loving wife Eileen; sons James, Jr. and Daniel; grandchildren, James and Erin; great-grandchildren, Grace and Alexander; and siblings, Linda and Larry.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to celebrate Jim's memory by taking a peaceful walk, enjoying a round of golf or sharing a quiet moment with someone you love, just as Jim would have done. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at York Township Cemetery in Union County, Ohio. Underwood Funeral Home in Marysville, Ohio is assisting the family.
