Billy Brown Obituary

Mr. Billy Ray Brown, 82, of Miller St., Young Harris, Ga., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 in the Emory Hospital following an extended illness.
He was born on April 28, 1943 in Young Harris; the son of the late Ernest Lenoir Brown and the late Belle M. Nichols Brown. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Navy of the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fellowshipping, socializing and telling stories to his family and many friends. He loved being outdoors and most of all helping others in need. He had a giving heart. He was a loving father, brother and grandfather. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and also a sister, Betty Bledsoe. Brown was a member of Many Forks Baptist Church.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Carrie Brown, of Texas; two sisters and one brother-in- law, Kathy and Cecil Hughes, of Young Harris, and Sandra Gooch, of Blairsville; three grandchildren, Rachel Rodriguez, Jacob and Riley Brown; nieces and nephews are Belinda Bledsoe, of Tenn., Kristie and John Anderson, of Blairsville, Joel and Casey Gooch, of S.C., Nick and Bobbie Jo Hughes, of Young Harris, Nathan and Jennifer Hughes, of S.C. and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday July 25 at Many Forks Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Shook officiating. Special music was presented by the Many Forks Church Choir and Casey and Liza Gooch. The following gentleman served as pallbearers, Barry, Kevin and Jacob Brown, Mike Henson, Nathan Hughes and Joel Gooch. Serving as honorary pallbearer was Nick Hughes. The North Georgia Honor Guard conducted Military Honors at the graveside. Interment was in the Many Forks Cemetery. Donations may be made to Many Forks Baptist Church in Mr. Brown's memory. The family met with friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
