Ila Brown Obituary

Ila Mary Brown, 78, of Hayesville, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2025.
She was born in Binghamton, N.Y. to the late Frank and Agnus Gillespe Lewis. Ila worked as a real estate agent. She and her husband came to Hayesville on one of their anniversaries and decided to move to Hayesville. Ila loved helping people get their first time home and others growing into a second home with their family. Later in life, Ila enjoyed flipping homes with her husband. She was regularly active in her church where she attended New Life Baptist Church in Hayesville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon F. Brown; sister, Gayle Kniffen and brother-in-laws, Ralph Williams and Carl Nasworthy.
She is survived by her daughter, Elisabeth "Lisa" McFarland (Van), of Murphy; brother-in-law, Charles Kniffen, of Texas; granddaughter, Deanna Williamson Holland (Mark); and two great grandsons, Landon and Jordan Holland.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 13 at New Life Baptist Church with Pastor Greg Carroll officiating. Burial was in the Laurel Hills Memory Gardens in Young Harris, Ga.
The family received friends from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, July 13 at the church.
