Kevin Fuhr Obituary

Kevin J Fuhr, 58

Kevin was born March 13, 1967 in Redondo Beach, California, to Steve and Sharon Fuhr. He was the oldest of four siblings, brother Danny, sisters Stacey and Cindy. The family relocated to Moscow, Idaho in 1975. This is where Kevin grew up and called home. The family moved to Kennewick, Washington in 1984 where he graduated from Kamiakin HIgh School in 1985. It was at Kamiakin where he met his future wife, Emily Fuhr. After high school Kevin served a mission for the LDS Church from 1986-1988 in Brussels Belgium. Upon his return he and Emily started dating and were married on March 24, 1990. They were lucky enough to celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary last March.

For as long as he could remember, Kevin wanted to be a police officer. In April of 1992 his dream became a reality when he was hired by Ritzville Police Department in Ritzville, Washington. After a short stint with RPD he went to work for the Adams County Sheriff's Department in Othello, Washington. While working for Adams County he served as a patrol deputy, traffic deputy, detective, and Under Sheriff. While working for Adams County he attended the FBI National Academy session 224 in Quantico, Virginia. During his time living in Othello he also attended Big Bend Community College and received his AA and then Central Washington University where he received a BS in Criminal Justice.

On June 14, 2000 Kevin and Emily were blessed to welcome their daughter Jordan to their family. She was truly a blessing and an answer to their prayers. Kevin enjoyed watching Jordan's many sporting events. They rode 4-wheelers together and she could even ski and surf, but not as good as her dad.

In February 2007 Kevin was appointed as the Chief of Police of the Rathdrum Police Department in Rathdrum, Idaho. He served as chief in North Idaho for 9 ½ years. In July of 2016 Kevin was hired to be the police chief of the Moses Lake Police Department. While serving as police chief he also served two terms as interim city manager and was elected to the school board in 2022. While on the school board he served as board president for two years.

Throughout his life, Kevin enjoyed many activities. He loved snowmobiling, in his younger years. He enjoyed riding his bike and participated in several sprint triathlons. He also enjoyed golfing. But his biggest love was the water. He grew up water skiing and in the last few years started wake surfing. Kevin was happiest when he was in the water. He loved doing these activities with family and friends. He felt very blessed that he was healthy enough to walk his daughter down the aisle on July 20, 2024. It was a beautiful day with friends and family and he felt truly grateful that he lived long enough to have this opportunity.

Kevin retired, after 32 years of public service, in June of 2024 due to health issues. Kevin passed away on July 21, 2025, leaving behind his wife Emily, daughter Jordan (Humberto) Fuhr-Jimenez, his father and three siblings and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 1, 2025 at 11:00 at Big Bend Community College Wallenstien Theater.

I remember arriving at their beautiful wooded mountainous home in Rathdrum Idaho. Kevin was grilling hamburgers out on the patio getting ready to feed our family when we arrived. That was a magical place with the pond, pines, and moose. Kevin took us on a 4 wheeler ride on the logging roads that gave us amazing views of the valley and was so much fun even in the rain!
Kevin worked hard on fixing up and restoring an old motorcycle for his nephew Derek´s birthday. Such an awesome uncle!
Kevin and Emily like peanut butter and jam; they just went together and Jordan, the tall glass of milk that completed it all. Love you!
