Dallas Henderson Obituary

Dallas Ray Henderson passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at the age of 66.

A celebration of life will be held August 5th at 11:00 am at Cambridge Lutheran Church. A time for visiting will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

A devoted family man, Dallas was born in 1958 in Rapid City, SD. He was the youngest of seven children born to Walter and Vera Henderson. He married his high school sweetheart, Sally (Sorenson), in 1977 before moving to the Cambridge-Isanti area in 1984, where they raised their five children.

When he wasn't attending events for his children or grandchildren, Dallas spent countless evenings and weekends helping others in the community by repairing their cars, trucks, lawnmowers, bicycles and anything else with an engine or wheels. He took great joy in his work and loved helping others where he could.

Outside of his family, Dallas was most well-known for his tremendous work ethic. After spending 15 years as a welder at Arrow Tank & Engineering in Cambridge, he became a proud member of the 49ers union as an Operating Engineer playing with "big boy toys" as he liked to say. Some notable projects he took pride in working on with the 49ers included the 35W bridge and the light rail system around the Minneapolis Airport.

Dallas passed away just days prior to celebrating 48 years of marriage while traversing life's ups and downs with his wife, their five children and eight grandchildren. Dallas is survived by his wife Sally; his children, Steven (Kate) Henderson, Michael (Greta) Henderson, Lisa (Joe) Dietsch, Amy (Kurt) Williams, and April (Eric) White; his grandchildren, Aiden, Emily, Elizabeth, Malory, Jonah, Brita, Leo and Miles; his older siblings, Carrie (Clifford) Davis, Karyl Ann (George) Putnam, and Jim (Jean A.) Henderson; and his father-in-law Russell Sorenson.

Dallas was preceded in death by his parents; three older brothers, Lee Wayne, Charlie, and Teddy; and his mother-in-law June.

The family would especially like to thank the staff in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Abbott Northwestern Hospitals for their loving care and tireless work. Over the past few weeks their devoted care for Dallas helped make his passing as peaceful and comfortable as possible while also providing unwavering support to his family.

I met the Henderson Family by Accident in November 1995 and we stayed in contact over the years.
I was fortunate enough to have Dallas work with our crews as a crane operator in the later part of my career. After I retired I would check in with him from time to time.
I last talked with him in November and he told me that he had retired.
I was sure shocked to hear of his passing.
He was a good Man
