Brent Brown passed from this life on June 10, 2025.
Standing nearly 6'7", Brent was a giant not only in stature but in spirit. His strength was matched only by his deep love for the outdoors and his passion for hunting. He was never happier than when he had a bow in his hand and the forest in his sights.
Brent's archery skills were the stuff of legend. At local bow shoots, his arrival often signaled that the real competition was for second place. In 2009, on a whim, he entered the Men's Open Class at the Annual Ben Pearson Memorial Tournament. With only his hunting bow in hand, others laughed and said he didn't belong. But the laughter turned to silence when Brent walked away with first place.
His greatest joy came from sharing his love of the outdoors with his sons. He beamed with pride at their accomplishments and was never happier than when they were by his side in the woods. Brent never met a stranger – his kindness, warmth, and generosity left a lasting mark on everyone he encountered.
Brent is survived by his sons, Blake Brown (Brooke) of Dover and Reid Brown of Paragould; his mother and stepfather, Debbie Brown and John Bassham of Dover; his sister, Traci Stokes (Shannon); his nephew, Finn Stokes; his aunt, Anna Robbins (Doyle); and his beloved partner, Alicia Baughman.
Pallbearers will be Larry George, Blake George, Michael Irwin, Scott Needham, Andrew Bewley, Billy Boley, Justin Shinn, and Brandan Hampton. Honorary pallbearers include members of the Arkansas Nuclear One Finn Team and Mechanic Shop, John Thomas, John Hunter Thomas, Rusty Linton, and all those Brent ever called his favorite.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 15, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Humphrey Chapel. Funeral services will follow on Monday, June 16, at 10 a.m., also at Humphrey Chapel, with Robert Hefley and Billy Linton officiating. Brent will be laid to rest at Phoenix Cemetery on Buck Mountain Road beside his grandparents, Edward and Juanita Hendrix, and his great-grandparents, Russell and Myrtle Hendrix by Humphrey Funeral Service.
