Karen Reddick Obituary
Karen S. Reddick, age 71, of Gambier, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at her home. She was born on August 23, 1953, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to the late William and Marjorie (Blubaugh) Kleer.
Karen will be remembered as the person who would do anything for anyone. She always needed little and gave much. She was a selfless, hard worker, who always put family first. She instilled those values in her family, and her work reflected these values as well, having been a teacher's aide for many years, before finishing out her career working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Anyone who knew Karen knew she loved her family, her dogs, NASCAR, and Ohio State football. She enjoyed camping, cookouts, fishing, and warm weather. She valued relationships most. She was her grandchildren's favorite partner in crime, always ready for the next adventure. During those times she always found a way to mentor and teach them, showing grace, speaking truth, and demonstrating love. She never missed an opportunity to spend time with the people she cared about, support them, and cheer them on. She was the binding force of her family. To her mother and siblings, she was strength, humor, and friendship. To her children she nurtured, taught, and disciplined them into adulthood and then she became their best friend. To her children-in-laws she was a source of comfort, support, and friendship. To her husband she was everything.
Karen is survived by her loving husband of nearly fifty years, Rick Reddick; children, Chris (Nicole) Reddick, and Dr. Melissa (Jason) Simmerman; grandchildren, Austin Reddick, Josef Reddick, Farrah Simmerman, and Faith Simmerman; her mother, Marjorie Kleer; siblings, Dave Kleer, and Kathy Kleer; mother-in-law, Janet Bond; and her two loyal and loving German Shepherds, Buddy and Buckeye.
She is preceded in death by her father, William Kleer, and fathers-in-law, Vernon Reddick and Floyd Bond.
A celebration of life service will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve.
