Rosemary Hollifield Obituary
November 26, 1940 - April 18, 2023
Rosemary Parks Hollifield, born in Asheville, North Carolina, was a beacon of joy and strength throughout her life. Her journey began at Woodfin Elementary and Clyde A Erwin High School, leading her to a groundbreaking career at McCarley & Company Stocks and Bonds in 1961. Rosemary's determination and talent saw her rise to the Board of Directors, a testament to her pioneering spirit. Her career continued with Wachovia Bank in Charlotte, where she retired, leaving a legacy of excellence and leadership.
Known for her infectious laughter and quick wit, Rosemary was the life of every gathering. Her faith and love for family were the pillars of her existence, and she was a source of joy and inspiration to all who knew her. Rosemary's servant leadership was evident in her dedication to providing education and opportunities for her family, making her a cherished central figure in their lives.
She leaves behind a loving family: her daughter, Caren Wingate of Charlotte; granddaughters Mary Zogzas of Asheville and Maggy Castellaneta of Charlotte; nephews Chris Harwood of Fletcher and Phillip Harwood of Deerfield Beach, Florida; brother Wade Smith Jr and his wife Deborah Ashley Smith of Lenoir; niece Ashley Kramp and her husband Stephen of Kansas, along with their children Elijah, Paige, Zane, Olivia, Bridger, Grace, and Micah.
Rosemary was predeceased by her mother, Margaret Rives Smith; husband, Vernon "Bud" Hollifield; and stepson, Michael Hollifield.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of Charlotte, Metrolina Nephrology Associates, Randolph Family Medicine, and Fresenius Kidney Care for their compassionate care. Rosemary's light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who loved her.
