Mary Louise Hinkle, age 87, of Rig, WV, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025, at E.A. Hawse Healthcare Center, Baker, WV. She was born on March 4, 1938 in Rig, WV, the daughter of the late William Harry and Carrie B. (Funkhouser) Delawder. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Omer James “Jimmy” Hinkle, they wed on March 26, 1955.
Ms. Hinkle attended school in Rig and began a lifetime career working over 25 years for Pilgrim’s Pride, formerly Hester’s, in Moorefield, WV. She was a member of the Rig Assembly of God and a 4-H instructor. Mary enjoyed spending time with family and traveling with Jimmy after her retirement.
Mary is survived by: 2 daughters, Susan Mongold (Buck) of Petersburg, WV; Christine Young (Greg) of Charleston, WV; a son, Steve Hinkle (Valerie) of Moorefield, WV; 4 sisters, Susie Clater (Ernest) of Front Royal, VA; Helen Bell of Petersburg, WV; Nina Delawder of Mathias, WV; Sally Heavner (Larry) of Cabins, WV; 10 Grandchildren; 16 Great-grandchildren; and 1 Great-great grandchild.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Lynn Riggleman and a brother, Bud Delawder.
In honoring Mary’s wishes, her body has been cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later time. Memories and words of comfort may be left at www.basagic.com or on Facebook at Basagic Funeral Home.
