Sharron Kenton Obituary

Sharron "Shari" L. Kenton, 68, passed away May 23, 2025.

Born Feb. 27, 1957, in Stapleton, Neb., to LaMoyne and Genevieve (Hamilton) Kenton, Shari spent most of her life on the family ranch five miles north of Thedford.

There, she and her siblings spent their childhood racing ponies and enjoying the outdoors-a life full of adventure and open skies.

Shari had a deep love for music and dancing. She had the voice of an angel and was never happier than when she was singing.

Later in life, Shari moved into town and lovingly took on the responsibility of raising her two nieces and a nephew. She cherished watching them grow and took great joy in cheering them on at volleyball games, football and basketball games and rodeos. 

Shari also devoted herself to caring for the community's youngest members. She opened a daycare and helped raise countless children over the years. She lived for the little ones she cared for and looked forward to seeing their bright faces each day. 

Shari will be remembered for her generous heart, joyful spirit and unwavering love for children. Her presence touched many lives and will be deeply missed.

Shari was preceded in death by her parents, Lemoyne and Genevieve; brother Shot Kenton; and sister Tammy From.

She is survived by sister and caregiver Deb Allen; siblings Cathy Williams and Fred Kenton; nephews Clayton Allen, Clint Allen, Tagg (Jayme) From, Jason (Lisa) Williams; nieces Samantha From, Amanda From, Brenda (Lee) Nelson and Jennifer Arensdorf; many great-nieces; great-nephews; and the children she cared for over the years. Her impact on their lives continues to be felt in the kindness and joy she helped nurture. 

Funeral services were Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the Thomas County Fairgrounds with Rod Petrie officiating.

The burial followed at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Thedford.

Visitation was Thursday at 1 p.m. until service time at the fairgrounds.

Memorials were suggested to the Sandhills Area Childcare or the Thomas County Fairgrounds.

Govier Brothers Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.
