Jim Crnich Obituary

Jim Crnich

James Waldron Crnich passed away on June 12, 2025 in Chicago IL. One of seven children of Anthony Crnich and Mary “Bunny” Crnich, Jim grew up in Mount Prospect, IL and graduated from St. Viator High School. He will be sadly missed and long remembered by all.

Jim was a one-of-a kind guy, loved by everyone. A comedian in his own right, Jim was always cracking jokes, along with a tinge of sarcasm. He could have done stand-up as he kept everyone laughing at Mrs. P & Me for years. The girls there knew him as a sweet guy because he knew how to turn on the charm too.

Jim maintained lifelong friendships, many of which began in childhood. He was loyal to all, no less his Chicago White Sox. If you knew Jim, he was your friend.

Never one to have a bad day, Jim showed up for life, no matter the challenge. A cancer survivor from his late 30’s on, he was grateful for every day he had. He often said to his friends “only the good die young, so we’ll be around for a while.”

In the end the cancer returned, Jim knew it at the time, and was at peace with it.

There will be a memorial gathering Friday August 1st from 10:00 AM until memorial mass 11:00 AM at St. Raymond de Penafort Church, Elmhurst Rd. (Rt. 83) and Lincoln St. Mount Prospect. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, Chicago.

I am so saddened to hear of my dear cousin Jimmy's passing. Growing up I remember his smile, his wit, and his sarcasm. Jimmy taught me not to ever take myself seriously and how to make others laugh. Like most Crnich men, we have our issues, but I will always remember him with a smile and appreciation to enjoy life!!! I am sorry I didn't know him later in his life and wish I could be there with you all today to celebrate and remember. Love and prayers to my cousins and family!!! Steve

Jim was a loyal customer at the Circle K in Sycamore. He always had a joke to share and always had a smile on his face, even to the last day we saw him. RIP friend you´ll be missed by your friends here in Sycamore.
