Ms. Janie Elizabeth Jennings Goffer, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of God, entered into eternal rest on July 8, 2025, at the Adams Nursing Home in Alexander City, Alabama. She was 88 years old. Janie was born on February 28, 1937, in Coosa County, Alabama, to the late Adoulph and Mary Fannie Jennings. She was educated in the Tallapoosa County School System and was deeply rooted in her Christian faith from a young age. She first joined Darian Baptist Church in Alexander City and, over the years, continued her spiritual journey through membership at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Sylacauga, Alabama, and later at New Beginning Ministries, where she remained a devoted member until her passing. A dedicated homemaker, Ms. Goffer's greatest joy came from caring for her family and nurturing those around her. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend-known for her gentle spirit, kind heart, and unwavering love. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Sherry Morris; her parents, Adoulph and Mary Fannie Jennings; three daughters, Carrie Jennings, Helen Norris, and Jacqueline Diane Poole; three grandchildren, Cortez Goffer, Kelvin Brand, and Cynthis Norris; and eight siblings-six brothers and two sisters. Ms. Goffer leaves to cherish her memory six loving children: sons Fredrick Goffer, Toreaton Jennings, and Edward Jennings, all of Sylacauga, Alabama, and Minister Dexter (Rhonda) Goffer of Killeen, Texas; daughters Jennifer Goffer of Sylacauga, Alabama, and Pamela Goffer of Alexander City, Alabama. Her legacy continues through her ten grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.Ms. Janie Goffer's life was a testament to faith, family, and resilience.
