Paul Pollard Obituary

Paul J. Pollard of Hayes, died at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital on Monday, May 30, 2022, at the age of 88. A native of Everetts, NC, and son to the late William and Hattie Butler Pollard. On November 27, 1951, Paul married Betty Jean Pollard and in 1953 joined the US Army, honorably discharged in 1955. He began his electrical career after moving to Virginia in 1956; they became members of Parkview Church of God in 1957 where Paul served faithfully as a Deacon and Superintendent of Sunday school. He was a member of IBEW LU 1340. Ordained in 1980 serving his first Church at the East End of Newport News Church of God; in 1988 he was Pastor at New Life Tabernacle in Hayes and a longtime devoted member of World Outreach Worship Center, Denbigh Blvd, Newport News. In addition to his parents, grandson Murchie Paul, siblings Johnny, Robert, Thomas, Louise, Essie, Betty, and Lillian preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Jean, 2 sons Danny Pollard (Joyce), Randy Pollard (Rita), 4 grandchildren Corey Pollard, Brett Pollard, Kristina Hull, Ashley Pollard, 10 great-grandchildren Knox, Rivers, Ava June, Myra, Judah, Summer, Brady, Seth, Natalie, Melanie, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Hogg Funeral Home on Friday, June 3, 2022, from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm, and a 1:00 service in the chapel officiated by Pastor Russell Evenson. Entombment at Hampton Memorial Gardens will be private.
