Mary Ann Gaylord

May 12, 1942 - January 14, 2025

Mary "Ann" Gaylord (Cubbage), 82 of Charlottesville, Va. passed away on January 14, 2025.

Ann was Born May 12, 1942 in Henrico County, Richmond, Va. She grew up in Charlottesville and graduated from Lane High School in 1960.

She then attended the Virginia Baptist Hospital Nursing School in Lynchburg, Va. where she received her Nursing Degree in 1963.

After moving to Cabin John, Md. for several years where she started a new family and then to Staunton, Va. She returned to Charlottesville. While living in Charlottesville she worked as an RN for Martha Jefferson Hospital and a Bookkeeper for the family business. She returned to nursing as an RN for the UVa Hospitals Medical and Surgical Unit where she retired after 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank Noah Cubbage and Ann Haden Brooks, her brothers Frank Cubbage, Jr., Victor Cubbage, Franklin Delano "Deedy" Cubbage and Lindbergh "Lindy" Cubbage and her sisters Virginia C. Taylor and Kathlean "Kitty" Louise Goodridge. All of Charlottesville, Va..

Ann is survived by her son, David Alan Gaylord, Jr. of Richmond, Va. and a number of nieces and nephews.

Ann was a caregiver her entire life. Her biggest joy was spending time with family and helping others. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles and watching television shows. She loved animals and especially her kitties.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be given to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org).

A graveside service is planned for 2/7/2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery. The family invites anyone wishing to pay their condolences to attend, formal attire not required.
