Victor Kurpiers Obituary

February 26, 1932 – June 3, 2025

Born on February 26, 1932, to Vincent and Mary (Perish) Kurpiers in Browerville, Victor "Vic" lived a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, and a tireless spirit.

A naturally-driven person, Vic left school after eighth grade to work on the family farm. By the age of 16, he was already involved in road construction, a field he would remain passionate about for several years.

Vic's life changed forever the night he met a beautiful young woman from Long Prairie, Mildred Bruder "Millie," at the Knotty Pine Ballroom. One dance was all it took - he was smitten, and she found him handsome and considerate. Vic was later drafted into the U.S. Army in 1950, proudly serving during post-WWII reconstruction in Europe. Later he earned his GED, which was another testament to his perseverance.

After returning from the Army, Vic resumed work in road construction at Starry Construction and farmed full-time. Vic married Millie the day before Thanksgiving, November 23, 1955, and together they built a loving family, and a life filled with purpose and faith. They raised seven children and poured their hearts into their dairy farm. He was never one to sit still and was always on the move.

He served as Hartford Township Clerk for 26 years and was active in several community efforts, including serving as a director and board member of Agri-Valley Farm Cooperative for 25 years. Friends and neighbors knew he was always willing to lend a helping hand. Vic had a knack for fixing anything and a mind always working on the next project. He valued "patience and discipline," although his kids say he may not have always practiced the "patience" part.

Vic loved people, especially those he called "High Milkers" - his term for productive, hardworking folks. He cherished his relationships deeply, especially with his children, whom he proudly called "the best crop I ever raised."

He leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and a life well-lived. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Vic is survived by his beloved wife of 69 and a half years, Millie; children, Ellen Pinkowski (Jim), Eileen Kurpiers (Stephen Crum), Jill Gromberg, Vic Kurpiers, Joyce Kurpiers (Tim Kelly), Keith Kurpiers (Jennifer Nelson), and Kevin Kurpiers; grandchildren, Melissa Anderski (Brett), Megan Pinkowski (Kenzie Brown), Mitchell Crum (Cheyenne), Allison Desmond (Zach), Ryan Gromberg, Reyne Kurpiers (Sam Boyer), Elizabeth Kurpiers, Matthew Kurpiers (Amber Speight); and his sister, Sr. Stephen Kurpiers (Angeline).

The family deeply appreciates the compassion and concern demonstrated by friends, first responders, emergency medical personnel, law enforcement, doctors, nurses, ministers, and caregivers at CentraCare Hospital, Life Link, and Hennepin County Medical Center who assisted Victor after his accident. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.

A Mass of Christian Burial took place on Monday, June 9, 2025, at the Christ the King Catholic Church in Browerville, MN. Burial immediately followed mass at the church cemetery with full military honors. Arrangements for Victor were made with the Iten Funeral Home of Browerville, MN.
