Edward Bahr Obituary

Edward Allan Bahr, age 55, a long-time resident of Delaware, Ohio, passed away on March 8, 2026, from complications related to Early Onset Alzheimer's. He was born on July 21, 1970, in Wheeling, West Virginia to Clark Bahr and the late Patricia (née Lawrence) Bahr formerly of St. Clairsville, Ohio.

While attending St. Clairsville High School, Ed discovered a love for drumming and spent summers working as a caddie at Oglebay Park Resort in Wheeling, West Virginia. He went on to graduate from Belmont Technical College's Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic program. Ed loved helping people and dedicated his adult life to serving as a first responder. He was an EMT with Rural Metro Ambulance, as well as an EMT-P and trauma registrar with Grant Medical Center in Columbus as part of the Emergency Department and Trauma Team, and an EMT-P with The Ohio State University Medical Center Emergency Department. In his final position he was a patient registrar at Grady Memorial Hospital during the height of the COVID pandemic. Ed also worked part-time at the Columbus Zoo as an EMT-P and at Nationwide Children's Hospital in security. His gentleness, ability to perform well under pressure, and his eagerness to assist those in times of crisis will long be remembered.

Ed is survived by his devoted wife Meg (née Baseore) Bahr of 21 years, their daughter Grace Bahr, who is presently enrolled at The Ohio State University, and his best friend / dog companion, Buttercup. Despite all the ways he served his community, Ed always claimed that his greatest accomplishment in life was being Grace's dad. He was incredibly proud of her for many things, including her decision to pursue higher education at OSU. Grace and Ed shared a lifelong love for the Buckeyes and spent many weekends cheering for their favorite football team. Ed, Meg, and Grace all enjoyed many trips to the Outer Banks of North Carolina and attending numerous country music concerts. Ed also had a love for trying new restaurants and sharing favorite food finds with all who would listen.

Also surviving are Ed's father Clark Bahr, his sister Carla (Dennis) Jalowiec of North Ridgeville, niece Rachel (Zach) Jalowiec-Bartlett of North Ridgeville, and niece Allison Jalowiec and her partner Ryan Venable of Chicago, Illinois; father-in-law Fred Baseore of Delaware, sister-in-law Brenda (Alan) Sorgen of Mansfield, niece Lindsay Gondek and her partner David Serda of Shawnee, Kansas and niece Ashley Sorgen and her partner Holly Murrell of Medina, great-nieces Hunter Finerty and Emery Gondek of Shawnee, Kansas, and great-nephews Dalton and Brayden Serda, of Shawnee, Kansas. Ed is also survived by many cousins, extended family, and friends. He also loved his newest friends and care team at Joshua Tree Care Center in North Olmsted, Ohio. Ed's entire family will be forever grateful for the empathy and kindness offered by Joshua Tree and Ed's hospice team during his transition.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Bahr's Education in Memory of Ed via GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/5dfdf6004.

We are deeply grateful for any support—whether it's a donation, sharing this fundraiser, or simply keeping Meg and Grace in your thoughts. Your kindness and generosity will help ease their burden and honor Ed's legacy of caring for others. Thank you for standing with them and helping to secure Grace's future.
