It's with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Margaret Fern Potts. She passed peacefully embraced by Jesus' arms. She was not alone but with her longtime friend/caretaker and devoted dog, Scooby. She was born August 1, 1932, in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of the late Earle Hulin Potts and Mabel Potts. He, a well-known greeting card salesman, her a homemaker.
She was a graduate of Maryville College and went on to finish her education with a master's degree in education. She took her education and became a lifelong teacher in and out of the classroom. After retiring often took care of others including family, friends when called upon during her long life.
Margaret traveled the roads of the great United States even visiting Israel, it meant the world to her to experience that. She was a lifelong Presbyterian and her memories of attending Liberty Barn Church with family and friends brought her such joy and love.
She was a long-time member of Source Point. Along with her faith it was her life and all the people she encountered. Margaret was a vibrant, active person after joining, she took off and taught line dancing. Played in a band that traveled to nursing homes and played ping pong with the best of them. She truly loved nature, the outdoors and being a part of local parks walking club. People firmly believe that kept her young.
Margaret had a love for music and was quite gifted. She was the organist at the church she attended. But that wasn't her only instrument of knowledge. She also played the piano, harmonica, piccolo, and guitar.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earle Hulin Potts and Mabel Potts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers — John, William, Robert and one sister, Mary Jane.
Margaret was a kind, thoughtful Christian woman who did her family and God proud. She didn't just exist in life but lived her best life and along the way helped so many others with her knowledge and faith guiding her. She will truly be missed in this world because as the saying goes the world was a much better place with her in it.
Margaret's legacy will be of patience, kindness and love to all living things and that learning will be carried forward by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She had many milestones in her well-lived life. Her remarkable life will forever be an inspiration, a testament to the power of a courageous spirit, enthused with curiosity and resilience.
She will be greatly missed and forever remembered.
At Margaret's request there will be no service, per her wishes. It was quite meaningful for you to remember her as you last saw her years ago before her illness took hold. Donations would be welcomed at the Humane Society of Delaware which she wholeheartedly supported.
