Bennie Carroll Hamilton was born in Fargo, Texas to E.C. and Edith Hamilton at his grandmother's home with his great grandmother serving as his mother's nurse. He grew up in Wilbarger County and graduated from Northside High School before heading to Fort Worth to attend Texas Wesleyan College, where he received his B.A. degree.
He later obtained a master's degree from North Texas University and completed many hours toward a doctorate.
Bennie was a dedicated public servant throughout his life. Following his formal education, he devoted most of his professional career to public education as a teacher and school administrator for a combined 37 years with the Fort Worth ISD and, after retirement from that distinguished career, he continued to serve the Fort Worth/ Tarrant County community as a probation officer for the Tarrant County criminal courts.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Bennie dedicated much of his time to civic and community activities. He first became a Mason at Fort Worth's Julian Field Lodge 908, then a Shriner as a member of the golf unit and was welcomed into the Royal Order of Jesters in 1997.
Bennie married his sweetheart and soulmate, Peggy, in 1978 and they had a beautiful life together for 47 wonderful years. They both shared a love for travel and enjoyed hosting friends and family at their ranch in Graham, Texas. Bennie was in his element there with the cattle, horses and llamas.
His second love after Peggy was golf. He was a member of the "Fun in the Sun" golf club, Colonial Country Club, and Ridglea Country Club where he famously shot his age when he was 82.
Bennie also enjoyed the outdoors as an avid hunter and loved sharing his knowledge and experiences with his children and grandchildren. His life was characterized by a deep devotion to family, community, and service, leaving behind a legacy of integrity, kindness, and unwavering purpose.
Bennie is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy; his parents; and sisters, Ann Wood and Sharon Maynard.
