Kathryn Ann Sanchez, age 57 passed quietly in Walnut Creek on Sat., Jan. 20, 2018. Survived by her mother and best friend, Nancy Jordan Dupont of Walnut Creek.
Also survived by her father, Daniel Valdivo Sanchez and her brother Mark Daniel Sanchez of Modesto.
Also survived by her beloved husband, Andres (Cole) Martinez Gonzales of Mexico and their 5 children, Oscar Martinez of Walnut Creek, Andres, Carolina, Danny and Ivan Martinez of Mexico.
Kathy was born in Alameda, CA on July 22, 1960 and later moved with her family to Walnut Creek, CA. She attended Walnut Creek Christian Elementary, School, and graduated to R. B. High School that was then in Martinez. She transferred to the new North Gate High School by choice and graduated from there. She attended Diablo Valley College but left to work as an apprentice at Lacey's Arabian Ranch.
Her skills in horse training were well known, spending years showing at the National level in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.
She met her present husband and joyfully embraced his five children. She lived in Pachuca, Mexico with him and taught English to Mexican professionals at Harmon Hall. She was very popular with the educators and students alike. They would come to her for the correct meaning of words and grammar. Her children came with her to school to learn English. Her son, Oscar is now a graduate of Berean Christian High School and is attending college at the San Francisco. She was extremely proud of him and taught him to be an accomplished horseman.
Cancer brought her back home to Walnut Creek where she spent almost 5 years in remission until it claimed her life.
She had a great sense of humor, always laughing and uplifting her friends and clients. She was enormously popular and helped everyone she could with their horses. She is missed terribly by her family and friends.
A memorial Service and celebration of her life will be held Sat., Feb. 3 at 11:00 a.m. at Berean Christian High School Auditorium. 245 El Divisadero Ave., Walnut Creek, CA. 94598. A reception follows at Castle Rock Arabians. 1350 Castle Rock Rd., Walnut Creek, CA 94598.
