Helen Fausold Obituary

ITHACA - Helen Gillmor Fausold died September 28, 2024 in Ithaca, N.Y.

She was born February 7, 1959 to the late William M. and Frances W. Fausold of Seneca Falls. After early schooling at Newark State School and a BOCES program she worked for Challenge Industries and then spent 27 years at the JM Murray Center in Cortland. These jobs gave her a modest income, a measure of independence, and made her a proud, contributing member of society.

Helen enjoyed holidays, shopping, horror movies and professional wrestling. She was happiest spending time with family and friends, the latter encompassing anyone she happened to meet. Although she faced many challenges that most people would find daunting, she never complained and greeted every new situation with a smile. Throughout her life Helen enjoyed the support of wonderful caregivers.

She is survived by her brother Charles (Helene) of Valois, N.Y., sister Kristina Edmonds of Williamsburg, Va.; niece Ellie (Gunnar) Lopez and grandniece Cora of Watkins Glen; nephew John Fausold of Dublin, Ohio and several cousins.

If the measure of a person's worth is whether they gave more than they received along life's path, Helen was a wealthy person indeed.

Services will be private. Those wishing to remember Helen are invited to make a contribution in her name to Unity House of Cayuga County, 217 Genesee Street, Auburn, N.Y. 13021. Arrangements entrusted to Royce-Chedzoy Funeral Home, Watkins Glen.
