Melvin Bonner Obituary

GENEVA - Melvin Bonner, 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, in Geneva General Hospital.

Melvin was born on June 9, 1947 in Geneva, N.Y. In high school, he was the captain of the basketball team and was also the state champion for cross country running. He served honorably in the US Air Force and worked 36 years at NYSEG. He was a devoted husband and loving father, an avid cook, enjoyed fishing, adored his cats and was a master wood sculptor.

Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Catherine Bonner of Geneva; daughter, Melissa Bonner of Cary, N.C.; brothers, Horace Daniels (Ester Lee), Tommy Daniels, and Kenneth Younger (Debbie); sisters, Deborah Lewis (Johnny) and Sharon Berry (David); and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother, Rosa Younger and his father, Jessie Younger; and his brother, Gregory Younger.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home.
